SISSA Closing Day

We attach the official Communite with which PhD Students, researchers and Professors of SISSA-ISAS partecipate to the general strike involving University and Resarch workers, planned for tomorrow.

“14 Novembre 2008: SISSA Closing Day
Estremamente preoccupati per i tagli all’Università ed alla Ricerca conseguenti alla legge 133/08, gli Studenti del Dottorato, i Ricercatori ed i Professori della SISSA di Trieste aderiranno allo sciopero generale dell’Università indetto per il giorno 14 novembre 2008. Inoltre saranno presenti in piazza dell’Unità d’Italia, dalle ore 9.30 alle ore 15.00 con un evento denominato “SISSA Closing Day”: accoglieranno la cittadinanza triestina con lezioni, esposizioni delle loro ricerche ed altro materiale informativo. Il titolo dell’evento vuole denunciare l’inevitabile “chiusura” di tante attività di ricerca di questo prestigioso istituto se i tagli
previsti verranno confermati.
Con questo evento vogliamo sottolineare inoltre l’importanza della ricerca scientifica per la società, le sue ricadute pratiche ed in particolare le gravi conseguenze che i tagli al fondo di ricerca previsti nella legge 133/08 avranno sullo sviluppo del paese.
Invitiamo caldamente tutti gli interessati a partecipare all’evento.”

A new section (Slogans) has been opened, to collect slogans and sentences to be used according to one’s will. The use of such phrases into scientific papers is a debated theme; nevertheless, the G4 members decided to produce them according to the requests received, and leave the decision to do so to the scientists’ conscience.

All the readers of this blog are of course invited to propose their own slogans, wich will be eventually published after the Majority’s approval.
